Manchester United’s hopes of reaching the Champions League knockout phase suffered a blow on Wednesday night after a goalless draw with PSV Eindhoven.

The Red Devils struggled to create any clear-cut chances against the Eredivisie champions as Jesse Lingaard wasted a good first-half opportunity at Old Trafford.

France international Morgan Schneiderlin also had a close-range attempt saved by PSV goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet after half-time.

And Louis van Gaal’s side will need to beat Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg in Germany on 8 December to be assured of their place in the last 16.
