Manchester City handed Arsenal the momentum in the Premier League title race after a goalless draw with Aston Villa.

£49m summer signing Raheem Sterling missed a good chance from close range before City midfielder Fernando hit the post in the closing moments at Villa Park.

City moved two points clear of second-placed Arsenal, but the Gunners can claim top spot with victory over Tottenham Hotspur in Sunday evening’s north London derby.
