Cristiano Ronaldo runs rule over Man United star Memphis Depay
Cristiano Ronaldo says Man United winger Memphis Depay is one of best young players in world
Cristiano Ronaldo says he rates Manchester United forward Memphis Depay as one of the best young players in Europe.
The Netherlands international has endured a tough start to his United career following a £25m move from Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven in the summer transfer window.
Depay has fallen out-of-favour under his compatriot and manager Louis van Gaal in recent weeks after the 21-year-old struggled to impress in the United starting line-up.
Ronaldo, who previously wore Depay’s number seven shirt at Old Trafford, believes the United winger is an exciting talent alongside the likes of Chelsea forward Eden Hazard and Barcelona striker Neymar.
“You see many players with potential, I will mention Odegaard of Madrid for example, at 16 he’s still young but you can see he’s a very good player,” Ronaldo told BT Sport. “Hazard for example, the No7 of Manchester Depay is a good player too, Pogba and maybe Neymar.”
Depay has scored one goal in eight Premier League appearances for the 20-time English champions this term.
The Dutch winger has a long way to go to match Ronaldo’s 118 goals for the Red Devils over a five-year career.
The Portugal international moved to Real Madrid in an £80m move from United in 2009.
