Daniel Sturridge hands Liverpool a huge boost ahead of Man City clash
Daniel Sturridge declares himself fit and ready to return ahead of Liverpool's clash with Manchester City
Daniel Sturridge has declared himself fit and ready to go as Liverpool turn their attentions to Saturday’s Premier League showdown with Manchester City.
The forward, who missed much of last season with a hip problem and underwent surgery in the summer, has been out of action with a knee problem.
The 25-year-old England international has not featured for Liverpool since the 1-1 Merseyside derby draw with Everton at the start of October.
However, Sturridge returned to Liverpool training this week and could be included in the squad to face City at The Etihad on Saturday evening.
Now, the forward himself has revealed that he is feeling fit and ready to help his team-mates in the build-up to this weekend’s clash.
Sturridge is quoted as saying by Goal: “I’m fit and ready to go. It’s going to be a great time for me.
“It’s been exciting under the new manager. He’s been really good. I’ve been back training now for the past couple of days and I was training under him when he first arrived.
“It’s an exciting time to be at the club and I’m enjoying working with him and his style of football.
“It’s important for us to understand what he wants us to do.”
Former Chelsea striker Sturridge has scored two goals in three Premier League appearances for Liverpool so far this season.
Liverpool slumped to a 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace in Sturridge’s absence at Anfield on Sunday afternoon as they suffered their first defeat under new manager Jurgen Klopp.
