Danny Mills blasts ‘fragile and vulnerable’ Arsenal
Danny Mills questions Arsenal's title credentials ahead of the Gunners' trip to Norwich in the Premier League
Danny Mills has described Arsenal as “fragile” and says Arsene Wenger’s side lack leaders and grit.
The north London side slumped to a disappointing 2-1 loss to West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns at the weekend as the Gunners missed the chance to move top of the Premier League table.
They don’t have the characters in the team that can help you grind a result out
Arsenal have often been criticised for failing to perform for the length of the whole Premier League season.
And former defender Mills feels that Arsenal will have no chance of winning the Premier League title this season unless they improve their fragile nature ahead of the hectic festive period.
Mills told Sportlobster: “The problem with Arsenal is they are fragile.
“They still don’t have the characters in the team that can help you grind a result out.
“They need a commanding centre-half who will boss people about. Likewise, they are missing a midfield general. Where’s their Keown, Campbell or Vieira?
“What they have is an abundance of talent. The midfield area is absolutely blessed with quality but too often, Arsenal seem to slip up and fall away. It was in evidence at the weekend. They were 1-0 up but sloppiness at the set-piece and poor defending gifted the game to West Brom.
“Against teams who like to make things difficult and get the ball into the box at every opportunity Arsenal are exposed and vulnerable. They have to improve their fragility to pose any sort of challenge.”
Arsenal take on Norwich City in the Premier League at Carrow Road on Sunday afternoon as they look to return to winning ways in the top flight.
The north London side have not won the Premier League since 2004, when they famously went the whole season without losing a game under Wenger’s guidance.
