Danny Mills has warned Tottenham Hotspur that Chelsea could use Sunday’s clash at White Hart Lane as a game to kick-start their season.

The Blues have struggled to find consistent form so far this term but returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Norwich City at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

Jose Mourinho’s defending champions then followed up that win with a 4-0 thrashing of Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The west London side now turn their attentions to Sunday’s trip to White Hart Lane, and Mills feels that it is only a matter of time before Chelsea click into gear and show what they are capable of.

Mills told Sportlobster: “Sooner or later Chelsea are going to hammer someone.

“Eden Hazard will find form, Diego Costa will score a hat-trick and every team going to Stamford Bridge will be praying ‘please, not us’.

“They have a great manager and a fantastic squad of players, it’s simply a matter of time.

“Everyone’s saying ‘well, they’re out of it, there’s no way they can make the top four,’ but when I was at Leeds we were 15th at Christmas and finished fourth so it’s possible.

“Four wins from five games and they would be back on track.”

Tottenham warmed up for Sunday’s showdown with a 1-0 win over Qarabag in the Europa League on Thursday night. Spurs are fifth in the Premier League after beating West Ham United 4-1 last weekend.
