Dele Alli hails his Tottenham ‘big brother’ Eric Dier
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli is thrilled for Eric Dier after England debut
Dele Alli says Eric Dier has really looked after the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder since his move to White Hart Lane.
Dier made his England debut in the 63rd minute of Friday night’s 2-0 loss to Spain in Alicante, whilst box-to-box midfielder Alli made his third appearance for the Three Lions from the bench.
He’s a great guy, he’s really looked after me at Spurs and hopefully we can play together for England
Alli has been in impressive form for the north London side in recent months despite the 19-year-old moving to Tottenham from League One side MK Dons in a £5m deal in the summer transfer window.
And the newly-fledged England international revealed Dier has been a source of support since his step up to the Premier League side.
“I’m delighted for Eric that he’s won his first call-up,” Alli told Tottenham’s website.
“Since I’ve arrived at Spurs he’s been like a big brother to me, so I’m thrilled to be able to work with him in the international set-up. He’s a great guy, he’s really looked after me at Spurs and hopefully we can play together for England.”
Alli was named man of the match after his performance in Tottenham’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal in last weekend’s north London derby.
The Spurs midfielder has scored two times in 11 Premier League appearances for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this term.
