Eric Dier says Tottenham Hotspur have proved a lot of their critics wrong in recent weeks.

The north London side equalled a Tottenham record after Mauricio Pochettino’s side went 12 games unbeaten in the Premier League thanks to Sunday’s 4-1 victory over West Ham United at White Hart Lane.

Spurs haven’t suffered a defeat in the English top-flight since a 1-0 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford on the opening day of the Premier League season.

Dier, who made his England debut against Spain earlier this month, insisted that Tottenham have got rid of their “soft label” after a 12-game unbeaten run.

“Hopefully we have got rid of that ‘soft’ label because it is not a nice label to have. I think we have proved a lot of people wrong,” Dier told Daily Mirror.

“We have played some very aggressive football, we get stuck in, we get about, and I think we are a team most others don’t want to play against.

“One of our main characteristics has been high-tempo football and we showed it again against West Ham. If we want to win that’s how we’ve got to play.”

Dier has scored two goals in 12 Premier League appearances for the north London side.

The newly-fledged England international has also made five appearances in the Europa League and League Cup.
