Liverpool transfers: Jurgen Klopp can sign big names, says ex-Red

Stan Collymore discusses the difference between Jurgen Klopp and Brendan Rodgers

Jurgen Klopp is capable of recruiting big names for Liverpool in the January transfer window, according to Stan Collymore.

The 48-year-old masterminded Liverpool’s best Premier League win of the season so far after a 4-1 victory over Manchester City at Etihad Stadium on Saturday’s evening.

Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers was criticised for his poor record in the transfer market after the Northern Irishman signed the likes of Joe Allen, Iago Aspas and Fabio Borini.

The 48-year-old former Borussia Dortmund manager has been linked with a move for Marco Reus, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Robert Lewandowski since he took over the reins at Anfield.

Former Liverpool striker Collymore believes the key difference between Klopp and Rodgers is his ability to attract top players to Anfield.

Collymore told talkSPORT: “The difference between Brendan and Klopp is that Klopp can bring names in [in the transfer window], and Rodgers couldn’t.”

Liverpool are six points behind fourth-placed Arsenal after a 4-1 win against the Citizens at The Etihad on Saturday afternoon.
