Ex-Man United star: Jurgen Klopp has made Liverpool fearless
Johnny Giles says Jurgen Klopp has already transformed Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp has transformed Liverpool into a fearless side, according to Johnny Giles.
The Reds have won back-to-back games and Klopp’s men have lost just once in 10 games since the former Borussia Dortmund manager took over the reins at Anfield in October.
Liverpool were impressive 4-1 winners against Premier League title favourites Manchester City at The Etihad last weekend, racking up back-to-back away victories at Chelsea and City.
Former Manchester United midfielder Giles believes Klopp is capable of simplifying his tactics, unlike the 48-year-old German’s predecessor, Brendan Rodgers.
“What Klopp has done to Liverpool and Dortmund is take the fear away. Attack teams,” Giles told Newstalk’s Off The Ball.
“It doesn’t always work. People say football is a simple game but it’s a complex game. Coaches can make it more complex. The top managers can reduce a complex game to simplicity.”
Giles added that believes Klopp deserves praise for already turning around Liverpool’s season.
“He has turned things around. They had one or two shocks themselves,” Giles continued.
“It takes about six months for a manager to really get the players that he wants in. His philosophy can be there from the start. Every game that goes by, they should get better.”
The Reds host Swansea City at Anfield on Sunday afternoon as the Merseyside outfit look to secure back-to-back Premier League wins.
Liverpool are six points behind fourth-placed Arsenal and only eight points adrift of surprise Premier League leaders Leicester City.
