Fantasy Football: Coutinho, Kane and more – this weekend’s top picks
Here are the best picks for your Fantasy Football team ahead of this weekend's Premier League fixtures
Jack Butland (£4.7m) The Stoke shot-stopper kept his fifth clean sheet of the season in his side’s impressive 1-0 win over Southampton last week. He is currently Fantasy Football’s highest scoring ‘keeper this season, with 65 points and is available for a bargain at under £5m. Only three teams have conceded less than Stoke this season and with a trip to strugglers Sunderland, a sixth clean sheet could well be on the cards.
Chris Smalling (£6.7m) The England centre-back has been outstanding this season and has won Fantasy football players 66 points, the most by a defender. Although the 26 year-old had a quiet week against Watford scoring just two points, the league’s best defence make it hard for the opposition to score against them. A trip to leaders Leicester won’t be easy but Jamie Vardy should find it tough to break the record for goals in consesutive games against Smalling and company.
Scott Dann (£5.1m) The Palace defender has carried on his form from last season, scoring 56 points and chipping in with two goals. He is the sixth highest scoring defender in the league so far and his side have only conceded 13 goals this season. The Eagles come up against goal-shy Newcastle- just 13 to their name- so points are very much on offer for Scott Dann fans.
Ross Barkley (£7m) The 21-year-old was in sizzling form in last week’s 4-0 thrashing of Aston Villa, scoring two and setting up one giving him a total of 19 points. The England international has five goals to his name this season, accumulating 72 points for fans up and down the country. Everton travel to struggling Bournemouth- without a win in seven – which gives Barkley the perfect opportunity to carry on his terrific campaign.
Philippe Coutinho (£8.4m) The Liverpool star was outstanding during their incredible 4-1 win over Man City, with a goal and assist to give him 13 points. With 70 already to his name so far, he certainly is a must buy for the coming weeks. With Liverpool’s home clash against under-fire Swansea- just one win in nine- Coutinho could well add to his five goals and 70 points.
Jamie Vardy (£7.5m) The in-form player of the entire Premier League should be the first name on the team sheet for all Fantasy football players. With 13 goals to his name and the chance to go for the Premier League record of goals in consecutive games, Vardy would have given you a mammoth 93 points if you were brave enough to pick him from match one. Despite a tough game against Manchester United, it would be foolish to write off Vardy to make history.
Tough choice between three for this week’s captain. Harry Kane – with nine goals in six – is in great form but will come up against a potentially resurgent Chelsea side. Romelu Lukaku with nine goals coming up against Bournemouth is another smart option, so too is Premier League hitman Vardy.
