Jody Morris has launched a defence of Chelsea captain John Terry.

The Blues skipper is coming under fire after a series of uncharacteristic performances this season just months after he captained Chelsea to their fourth Premier League crown.

Terry was unable to prevent Liverpool notching up a 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon as Jose Mourinho’s side slumped to their sixth defeat of the season.

However, former Chelsea midfielder Morris, who played alongside the retired England captain during his Stamford Bridge career, believes it is unfair to say the 34-year-old’s “legs have gone”.

Terry has started eight of west London side’s 11 Premier League games this season.

The Blues edged into a first-half lead against Liverpool thanks to Ramires’s headed goal in west London.

However, Philippe Coutinho’s brace and Christian Benteke’s strike sealed a 3-1 win for the visitors to leave Mourinho’s men in 15th place and 14 points behind leaders Chelsea.
