Frank Lampard sends blunt warning to Jose Mourinho and Chelsea
Frank Lampard says Chelsea are running out of time to turn their season around after defeat at Stoke
Frank Lampard has warned Chelsea and Jose Mourinho that the Blues must “turn the corner” very quickly after they slumped to their seventh defeat of the season at Stoke City on Sunday.
With Jose Mourinho absent as he served his one-game stadium ban, Marko Arnautovic fired home acrobatically in the 53rd minute to net the home side’s eventual winner.
The result heaped yet more pressure on Mourinho and left Chelsea 16th in the Premier League table and just three points above the relegation zone after 12 games.
And former Chelsea midfielder Lampard admits that the west London side need to turn around their disastrous start to the season as soon as possible.
Lampard said on Sky Sports: “They need to turn the corner very quickly. They can’t dwell on it, they need to get out of it and put it to bed.
“I saw glimpses of what they need to turn the corner. I couldn’t fault their performance, they just didn’t get that little bit of luck to get the result.
“They need to get results, simple as that.”
Chelsea’s next game is a home clash with Norwich City on 21 November after the forthcoming international break.
The Blues have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last eight away games in the Premier League.
