Frank Lampard: Struggling Chelsea forward Eden Hazard needs help
Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard runs rule over Eden Hazard's disappointing Blues form
Frank Lampard says struggling Chelsea forward Eden Hazard needs help.
The Blues forward was ineffective in a 3-1 defeat by Liverpool at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
At the minute he looks like a player down on his confidence. I know he’s a good lad and I think maybe a bit of help [is what he needs]
The Belgium international has made just two assists in 11 Premier League appearances for the west London side this season.
Hazard was named the PFA player of the year in April after he scored 16 times in 35 games to fire Chelsea to the Premier League title.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Chelsea’s record goal-scorer Lampard says the 24-year-old is lacking confidence and needs some help.
“I love Eden Hazard as a player, I was fortunate enough to play with him, his ability is frightening,” Lampard told Sky Sports News.
“He’s come out himself about his level [of performance] this year but I think he needs help. “I think we forget he’s a young boy, he’s come onto the scene these last couple of years, he’s never had a moment like this in his career. He’s never had to worry. He’s generally played very well, last year he was creating all season, and was the difference for Chelsea to a big extent.
“At the minute he looks like a player down on his confidence. I know he’s a good lad and I think maybe a bit of help [is what he needs].”
Hazard hasn’t scored a goal in 14 games in all competitions this season.
The Belgium forward has won the Premier League, the League Cup, the FA Cup and the Europa League since his move to Chelsea from Lille in 2012.
The Chelsea man has scored 50 times in 174 games in all competitions for the west London side.
