Christian Benteke’s brilliant goal secured a 2-1 victory over Bordeaux for Liverpool as the Reds qualified for the Europa League last 32.

The Belgium international’s goal in added time at the end of the first half sealed three points after Liverpool captain James Milner’s earlier penalty had spared the blushes of goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

The Liverpool number one was penalised for time-wasting in his own area and Bordeaux striker Henri Saivet scored from the resulting free-kick at Anfield.
