Gareth Bale remained coy when quizzed about the possibility of securing a return to the Premier League to join Manchester United.

The Wales international is thought to be a transfer target for the Red Devils and has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent days as the January window approaches.

Louis van Gaal is thought to be keen to bolster his attacking options at Old Trafford and is weighing up a bid for the former Tottenham Hotspur star.

Bale joined Real Madrid from Tottenham in a world-record transfer deal back in the summer of 2013 but has been linked with a move back to England on a regular basis.

Now, the player himself has admitted that he can “never say never” with regards to a return to England, but insisted that he is happy playing under Rafael Benitez at the Bernabeu.

Bale is quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror: “I will never say never when it comes to going back to the Premier League, because you don’t know what the future holds.

“But I am enjoying my time here. I am very happy. I had conversations with Rafa in the summer and I am delighted about where I am going to be playing this season.

“I like the role behind the striker and feel that’s my position. I can drift into areas, find the space and, when I get the ball, I can attack. It’s my best position – and I think this year is going to be a great season.”
