Gary Neville says Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy is capable of inflicting a nightmare performance on Manchester United at King Power Stadium next weekend.

The England international equalled Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record of scoring in 10 successive Premier League games in Saturday’s 3-0 win at Newcastle United.

He’s a massive handful, and whoever plays centre-back for Manchester United next weekend will know they’ve been in a game

Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester side are top of the Premier League table and a point ahead of Louis van Gaal’s United outfit ahead of their clash at King Power Stadium next Saturday.

Former United defender Neville believes Van Gaal won’t be underestimating the Foxes after the Dutchman’s Red Devils side lost 5-3 in the fixture last season.

“They know what they’re going to walk into [against Leicester] because I don’t think Louis van Gaal will have had a more sobering game than he had last year [losing 5-3], where his team played really well at the start of the game,” Neville told Sky Sports.

He added: “Full credit to both teams, and Leicester are the story of the season so far. They are so energetic, high-tempo, aggressive, direct, and Vardy can cause you absolute nightmares.

“He’s a massive handful, and whoever plays centre-back for Manchester United next weekend will know they’ve been in a game.”

Vardy scored Leicester’s fifth goal in their 5-3 win against United last term as the Foxes fought back from 3-1 down to secure a memorable Premier League win.

United are unbeaten in five Premier League games since a 3-0 loss at Arsenal last month, whilst Leicester haven’t been beaten in the top flight since a 5-2 defeat by the Gunners in September.
