Glenn Hoddle: What ‘unconvincing’ Man United need to work on

Glenn Hoddle says Manchester United need to be more creative

Glenn Hoddle says unconvincing Manchester United need to be more creative like Sir Alex Ferguson’s great Red Devil sides.

Jesse Lingard and Morgan Schneiderlin wasted the home side’s best opportunities to break the deadlock against the Eredivisie holders at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have scored just five times in their last seven games in all competitions, which has resulted in four goalless draws and three victories.

While Hoddle pointed to United’s positive unbeaten record in recent weeks, the former Chelsea and Spurs manager admitted the Red Devils do lack creativity.

“They’ve not been overly convincing,” Hoddle told ITV.

“They’re winning games which is a good sign when you’re not playing at your very best. The United of old played creative football.

“There isn’t enough creation but they’re defending well. It isn’t the United way.”

The Premier League side will need to beat Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg in their next Champions League fixture to be assured of a place in the last 16.

United have only managed to beat Wolfsburg and CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford in their five Champions League group-stage games this season.
