Harry Kane discusses Tottenham’s title hopes ahead of Chelsea clash

Harry Kane insists that Tottenham Hotspur's focus remains on breaking back into the top four this season

Harry Kane has insisted that Tottenham Hotspur’s focus this season is breaking back into the top four and not mounting a Premier League title challenge.

Spurs have been in fine form in recent weeks and are unbeaten in the Premier League since losing to Manchester United on the opening weekend of the season.

The north London side head into Sunday’s clash with Chelsea at White Hart Lane in fifth place in the top flight table knowing that a victory over the Blues would move them to within two points of leaders Manchester City as the hectic festive schedule looms large.

However, striker Kane insists that he and his team-mates are purely focused on helping Spurs secure qualification for next season’s Champions League and not a possible title triumph.

Kane told BT Sport: “The season’s wide open for anyone who can put a run together and take it by the scruff of the neck.

“But the main aim for us this season was to try and get [into the] top four.

“We’re obviously in a good position so far but come the new year if we’re still up there then we can start thinking about that [winning the title].”

The 22-year-old striker has been in remarkable form in recent weeks, scoring nine goals in his last six outings for Spurs in all competition.
