Heung-min Son delivers latest Tottenham injury update ahead of Hammers clash
Heung-min Son reveals Tottenham Hotspur didn't want the striker to go on South Korea duty
Heung-min Son insist he is fit despite Tottenham Hotspur’s concerns about the striker’s decision to link up with the South Korea squad.
The Spurs summer signing was on the bench for their 1-1 draw with Arsenal in Sunday’s north London derby and came on for the final 15 minutes at The Emirates.
Son has missed six weeks with a foot injury after an impressive start to his Tottenham career following a summer move from Bayer Leverkusen.
While Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was cautious about Son going on international duty, the 25-year-old reiterated that he is confident of not suffering an injury relapse.
“My club didn’t want me to make the trip, worried that I would reinjure my foot, but I said I really wanted to go,” Son told Fox Sports.
“I’ve been training all along [during the injury] and I don’t think conditioning will be a concern.”
Son has scored three goals in seven appearances in all competitions following his summer switch.
The north London side signed the South Korean in a £22m deal from Bundesliga side Leverkusen.
His move to Tottenham made Son the most-expensive Asian player in football history.
