Ian Wright states his prediction ahead of Olympiacos v Arsenal
Ian Wright is in a confident mood...
Ian Wright is backing Arsenal to qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League by beating Olympiacos next month.
The Gunners head to Greece knowing that a victory would see them through to the knockout phase after their convincing 3-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.
And former Arsenal striker Wright is convinced that the north London side have what it takes to seal a victory and progress.
Speaking after Tuesday night’s win at Emirates Stadium, Wright said on BT Sport: “When they do go across [to Greece], because they have left themselves with such a task, I think that will suit Arsenal more than going into that game level-pegging and expecting Arsenal to beat them.
“If they can get a couple of people back [from injury] – they have a couple of games in the Premier League that are winnable – if they can do that and go into the game with confidence, I think they will beat Olympiacos.”
Mesut Ozil opened the scoring against Zagreb with a neat low header in the 29th minute in north London.
Alexis Sanchez then made it 2-0 when he fired home from close range shortly after following good work from Nacho Monreal.
The Chilean then added a superb third after half-time in the 69th minute to wrap up a comfortable victory for Arsene Wenger’s men.
Arsenal travel to Norwich City on Sunday.
