James Milner explains where Liverpool can make improvements
James Milner says Liverpool must address home form after 4-1 Man City win
James Milner says Liverpool must address their home form after Saturday’s 4-1 win at Manchester City.
The Reds secured back-to-back wins on the road in the Premier League as Jurgen Klopp maintained his unbeaten record in the English top flight since taking over the reins from Brendan Rodgers.
However, the 48-year-old former Borussia Dortmund manager hasn’t secured a victory at Anfield in the Premier League since becoming the Reds new boss in October.
And Milner, who returned to The Etihad for the first time since joining Liverpool on a free transfer in the summer, believes the home form could hold the key to a top-four finish.
Milner told talkSPORT: “There are always areas we can improve. If you look at the teams we have played away from home and the results we have got, it has been pretty solid, but obviously the home form we can improve.
“We know that is where we need to do better and we are more than capable of that. If we can get the home form right we won’t be too far away.”
Eliaquim Mangala’s seventh-minute own goal set the Reds on their way before Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino edged Liverpool into a 3-0 lead after 32 minutes.
City striker Sergio Aguero did offer some hope for the Citizens before half-time with a fine finish but Martin Skrtel sealed three points with an 81st-minute volley.
