James Milner is confident Liverpool can have a successful season under Jurgen Klopp.

The 48-year-old German took over the reins at Anfield last month after Brendan Rodgers was sacked following the Merseyside derby.

We were on a good run before last weekend, so it’s important we get back on that and take belief from the results we’ve had

Liverpool tasted their first defeat under the former Borussia Dortmund manager last weekend after a 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace at Anfield.

However, their Eagles setback hasn’t altered Milner’s belief that the Liverpool squad can be successful this season with their new manager at the helm.

Milner told Liverpool’s website: “I think we’ve said it all season everything is there for us with the squad we have and we’ve got obviously new coaches, new staff and manager.

“They are experienced and what they have done before is there for everyone to see. They’ve obviously been very successful and are looking to bring that here.

“This is an amazing club, we’ve got the fan base and the ground – everything is there for us to do well and I think it’s just down to everyone to just believe we can do well.

“We were on a good run before last weekend, so it’s important we get back on that and take belief from the results we’ve had.

“Not too many teams can play like we did against Chelsea and go there and thoroughly deserve a win, so we know we can do it. It’s about doing it more consistently and pushing on.”

The Reds were unbeaten in six games under Klopp before a surprise 2-1 defeat by Alan Pardew’s Palace side in the Premier League.

Liverpool’s best performance since Klopp took over the reins came at Stamford Bridge after a 3-1 win against defending champions Chelsea last month.
