Jamie Carragher: Why Arsenal star Mesut Ozil frustrates me

Jamie Carragher runs rule over Arsenal's 'frustrating' Mesut Ozil

Jamie Carragher says Mesut Ozil is a frustrating player despite naming the Arsenal midfielder as one of his stars of the season so far.

The Germany international created an assist for his sixth successive Premier League game in Sunday’s north London derby as Ozil teed up Kieran Gibbs for Arsenal’s equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

The £42.5m club-record signing has already made a staggering 10 assists in the English top-flight this term, including seven in his last six games in the Premier League.

However, former Liverpool defender Carragher believes the World Cup Winner can do even more for the north London side despite his impressive start to the 2014/15 season.

Carragher told Daily Mail: “Chasing an assist record but he frustrates me as he can do so much more to influence a game.”

Ozil has also scored one goal in 11 Premier League games for Arsene Wenger’s side this term.

The Gunners are level on points with leaders Manchester City following 12 games.
