Joel Campbell: I’m trying to seize my Arsenal chance
Arsenal striker Joel Campbell believes he has the faith of Gunners manager Arsene Wenger
Joel Campbell says he is trying to seize his Arsenal opportunity.
The Costa Rica international has been handed some first-team minutes in recent weeks following injuries to Arsenal strikers Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott.
I’m trying to take advantage of my opportunity
Campbell lasted 74 minutes of Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Sunday’s north London derby Tottenham Hotspur before the striker was replaced by left-back Kieran Gibbs, who scored the equaliser.
The Arsenal forward, who scored his first Gunners goal in a 3-0 victory over Swansea City last month, is focused on performing on the pitch and not worrying about his long-term future in the side.
“I’m trying to take advantage of my opportunity but I know that what happens next is up to the manager,” Campbell told Arsenal’s website.
“As I’ve said, I’m just focusing on playing and performing as well as possible and the rest is up to him.”
The 23-year-old has scored one goal in two Premier League starts for the north London side.
Campbell has also made three appearances in the Champions League this season.
The Costa Rican has spent the past three seasons on loan before he returned to the Gunners this summer.
