John Barnes predicts where Liverpool and Tottenham will finish this season

John Barnes discusses Liverpool and Tottenham's hopes of finishing in the top four this season

John Barnes believes that both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur will end up fighting to earn a top-four finish this season.

Liverpool have showed signs of a resurgence under new manager Jurgen Klopp with impressive victories away to Chelsea and Manchester City in recent weeks.

Spurs, meanwhile, are unbeaten in the top flight since the opening weekend of the season and are currently in fifth place as they prepare to take on the Blues at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.

Both Liverpool and Spurs missed out on a top-four finish last season as Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United finished behind champions Chelsea.

However, Liverpool legend Barnes feels that both teams are in the hunt for Champions League qualification this season as the hectic festive schedule looms large.

Barnes wrote in his blog for Titanbet: “I’ve always said Liverpool are capable of a top four finish, but of course you have Tottenham up there as well.

“Spurs are playing consistently well at the moment and were ruthless in the way they beat West Ham 4-1 on Sunday. I don’t think they’re credible title contenders, despite what some people have claimed, but they’re certainly well in the race for the top four.”

Liverpool host Swansea City at Anfield on Sunday afternoon as they look to build on their 4-1 win at Manchester City last weekend.
