Joshua Onomah has surprised Tottenham Hotspur supporters after revealing the most-skillful player in the Spurs squad.

Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela would be two of Tottenham more skilful players on paper, regularly providing a dash of flair in Mauricio Pochettino’s midfield.

However, England Under-19 international Onomah opted against naming the Danish and Argentine playmakers when quizzed about the Tottenham player with the most box of tricks.

Speaking to JD Sports, the Spurs starlet named Belgium centre-half Vertonghen as the north London side’s biggest trickster.

“I would say Jan Vertonghen,” Onomah said. “He’s got a few tricky skills.”

Vertonghen is a master of the dark arts, too, after the Tottenham centre-half got close and personal with Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud during Sunday’s north London derby.

Onomah was a late substitute in the derby clash after Spurs manager Pochettino handed the 18-year more first-team minutes.

The Spurs teenager made his debut in a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa at White Hart Lane earlier this month.
