Juan Mata runs rule over Man United’s ‘perfect result’
Manchester United goal-scorer Juan Mata is happy with a 2-0 win against West Brom ahead of international break
Juan Mata has hailed Manchester United’s “perfect result” after a 2-0 victory over 10-man West Bromwich Albion.
United youngster Jesse Lingard lifted the pressure off Louis van Gaal’s side as the England Under-21 international scored the opener with his first goal for the 20-time English champions.

West Brom defender Gareth McAuley was sent off after he hauled down Anthony Martial in the box on the stroke of full-time and Mata dispatched the penalty to seal the win.
And the Spain international was pleased that United were able to secure their first victory in three Premier League games ahead of the international break.
“I think we played good football in the first half – in the second half we had problems,” Mata told BBC Sport.
“But it’s the perfect result going into the international break. We knew they would come and defend and then look for Salomon Rondon on the counter. We were patient enough.
“Obviously we want to attack – sometimes you can’t because of the opponent.”

The Red Devils moved to within a point of Premier League leaders Manchester City after their 2-0 win against Tony Pulis’s West Brom side.
