Juan Mata: Why Man United must be careful with Leicester duo

Man United star Juan Mata heaps praise on Jamie Vardy and Riyard Mahrez

Juan Mata has earmarked Leicester City duo Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez as potential threats ahead of Manchester United’s trip to the Premier League leaders next weekend.

Leicester striker Vardy equalled Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record of scoring in 10 successive Premier League games in Saturday’s 3-0 win at Newcastle United.

Twenty-four-year-old Moroccan playmaker Mahrez has scored seven goals and has made six assists in 12 Premier League games in his first season in the Premier League.

United midfielder Mata warned the Red Devils that the Leicester duo will be a threat at King Power Stadium next Saturday.

“Our next rival in the Premier League, as I said before, is Leicester,” Mata wrote in his blog.

“Ranieri’s team is having a remarkable season and the proof is that they are top of the League.

“In particular Vardy (who has equalled Van Nistelrooy’s record of scoring in ten consecutive games) and Mahrez are outstanding, playing at an exceptional level… We will have to be very careful with them.”

Vardy scored Leicester’s fifth goal in their 5-3 win against United last term as the Foxes fought back from 3-1 down to secure a memorable Premier League win.

United are unbeaten in five Premier League games since a 3-0 loss at Arsenal last month, whilst Leicester haven’t been beaten in the top flight since a 5-2 defeat by the Gunners in September.
