Jurgen Klopp issues top-four warning: Liverpool can do even better
Jurgen Klopp hails Liverpool's 'perfect' 4-1 win at Man City
Jurgen Klopp heaped praise on “perfect” Liverpool after their 4-1 win at Manchester City.
The Reds eased into a seventh-minute lead after Eliaquim Mangala put the ball past his own goalkeeper Joe Hart at Etihad Stadium.
We have quality, we could have more goals but 4-1 is perfect. The boys can believe now that they are stronger than many people think
Liverpool doubled their lead thanks to Philippe Coutinho’s fourth goal in three games before Roberto Firmino added a third in the 32nd minute.
Although Sergio Aguero offered City some hope with a goal before half-time, Liverpool sealed three points thanks to Martin Skrtel’s late volley.
And Klopp, who took over the reins from Brendan Rodgers in October, warned Liverpool’s rivals that his Reds side can do even better.
“It feels perfect! The game was not perfect but it was very good,” Klopp told BBC Sport.
“City couldn’t start like they want but that is important for us. We played with big passion and that’s the most important thing for us.
“The good news is that we can do better. At half-time I told the boys they were surprised to be winning 3-0, and we must do better in that situation.
“We have quality, we could have more goals but 4-1 is perfect. The boys can believe now that they are stronger than many people think.”
Liverpool are six points behind fourth-placed Arsenal after the Gunners suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat by West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns earlier on Saturday.
The Reds are unbeaten on the road in the Premier League under Klopp after a stalemate with Tottenham Hotspur was followed by victories over Chelsea and Manchester City.
