Latest Liverpool injury update: Jordan Henderson close to return
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson says he isn't too far away from a return from injury
Jordan Henderson has handed Liverpool a fitness boost after the captain revealed he is close to a return from injury.
The Liverpool captain sustained a broken foot during training following the Reds’s 1-0 win against Bournemouth at Anfield in August.
Henderson hasn’t played under Brendan Rodgers’s successor Jurgen Klopp as he continues to recover from the injury setback.
However, the 25-year-old, who succeeded Steven Gerrard as Liverpool captain in the summer, delivered an update on his fitness on Sunday evening.
Henderson told Sky Sports: “I’m getting there.
“This is one of the longest periods of time I’ve been out for and that has been tough for me.
“Hopefully I’m not too far away now.”
The Liverpool man established himself as a key part of Rodgers’s Red side last season after he scored six times in 37 Premier League games.
Henderson has netted 20 times in 188 games in all competitions for the Merseyside outfit following his £20m move to Liverpool from Sunderland in 2011.
The Reds were 4-1 winners against Manchester City at Etihad Stadium in the Premier League in Saturday’s late kick-off.
