Louis van Gaal delivers the latest Manchester United injury update ahead of Saturday's trip to Watford
Wayne Rooney will miss Manchester United’s trip to Watford in the Premier League, Louis van Gaal has revealed as he delivered the latest team news on Friday morning.
The England captain returned to Carrington with a bug and will not be available for selection as the Red Devils take on the Hornets on Saturday lunchtime.
As he delivered the latest Manchester United injury update, Van Gaal also confirmed that Anthony Martial, Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini and Antonio Valencia will also miss Saturday’s Premier League clash.
Summer signing Martial picked up a suspected ankle problem during France’s 2-0 friendly defeat by England at Wembley on Tuesday night and was pictured leaving the stadium on crutches.
Carrick also suffered an ankle injury while on international duty with England and returned to Carrington before Tuesday’s victory over France. Asked about the midfielder’s problem, Van Gaal told MUTV: “He shall be playing much quicker than everyone has written.”
