Liverpool handed huge injury boost ahead of Man City trip – report
Daniel Sturridge has reportedly returned to first team training with Liverpool this week
Liverpool have been handed a significant boost ahead of their Premier League trip to Manchester City on Saturday after Daniel Sturridge reportedly returned to first-team training on Tuesday.
The England international has not featured for Jurgen Klopp’s men since the Merseyside derby draw back in October but is now understood to be closing in on a return to first-team action.
The Liverpool Echo reports that Sturridge trained with the Liverpool first team at Melwood on Tuesday morning in a significant development ahead of Saturday evening’s Premier League showdown at The Etihad.
Sturridge was limited to just 18 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool last season due to a string of injuries and underwent hip surgery in the United States over the summer.
It is also claimed in the same report that Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is yet to return to full training following his spell on the sidelines with a metatarsal injury.
Liverpool lost 2-1 to Crystal Palace in their most recent outing.
