Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp issues warning to Jordon Ibe
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says Jordon Ibe must continue to work hard
Jurgen Klopp has warned Jordon Ibe that he must continue to work hard after the Liverpool forward scored his first Reds goal in Thursday’s 1-0 win against Rubin Kazan.
The 19-year-old dispatched a 20-yard finish in the 72nd-minute in Russia to seal Liverpool’s first Europa League win of the campaign after three successive draws.
He has to learn and if he is prepared to listen, everything will be good
And Klopp was pleased with the impact of the England Under-21 international after Ibe opened his Liverpool account in his 30th appearance for the five-time European champions.
“He is a very good lad, a very skilled player and a really big talent – he is fast, strong, good at dribbling,” Klopp told his post-match media conference.
“He has a lot to learn, but has a really good base. He feels good at the moment and we could see it tonight.
“Like everyone, he has to work hard – he is very young and has a long way to go. He has to learn and if he is prepared to listen, everything will be good.”
Last Friday, Klopp was caught on camera offering Ibe his glasses after the Liverpool teenager played a stray ball in training at Melwood ahead of their 3-1 win against Chelsea.
And the Liverpool manager lifted the lid on the funny moment in his post-match media conference in Russia last night.
Klopp added: “The situation was that Jordon played a bad pass and maybe it was because he needed glasses – that was my opinion and I don’t need them so often!”
Liverpool can secure four successive wins under Klopp if the Reds beat Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace side at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
