Liverpool transfers: Brazil star fuels talk of move to Anfield
Liverpool target Alexandre Pato appears to be keen on a transfer back to Europe this January
Alexandre Pato has fuelled the speculation linking him with a January transfer to Liverpool by admitting that he is keen on a move back to Europe.
The Merseyside club are thought to be keen on signing the former AC Milan forward and reports in the British media in recent days have suggested that the Anfield outfit are closing in on the signature of the 26-year-old.
Pato sparked fresh talk of a possible January switch to Anfield by posting a comment on the Instagram page of a Liverpool-based company last week.
Now, the attacker has underlined his desire to return to Europe to continue his playing career, dismissing talk about a potential move to Palmeiras.
Pato is quoted as saying by Goal: “I have not talked with anyone from Palmeiras. I see what happened in Palmeiras as an example. A lot was changed and they improved,” he added.
“It’s not because I praised the president that I have an ulterior motive. I hope to return to Europe.”
Pato scored 63 times in 150 appearances in all competitions for AC Milan during a six-season stay at San Siro. The Brazilian was part of the Milan side that won Serie A and Supercoppa Italiana in 2011.
The Liverpool target has netted 19 times in 59 games for his current employers Corinthians.
