Liverpool transfers: Corinthians confirm Alexandre Pato agreement
Liverpool are interested in signing former AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato, according to Corinthians
Liverpool have agreed a deal in principle to sign Brazil international Alexandre Patro, according to Corinthians president Robero de Andrade.
The Reds have been linked with a £14m move for the 26-year-old South American in recent weeks after Jurgen Klopp took over the reins at Anfield last month.
Brazil striker Pato, who has been previously linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, returned to Brazil in 2013 after a five-year spell at Serie A giants AC Milan.
However, the 26-year-old forward could be set to return to Europe after Corinthians president De Andrade revealed Liverpool have entered into talks to sign the former Rossoneri forward.
“There is an agreement in principle with Liverpool for the transfer in the coming weeks,” De Andrade told Tutto Mercato Web.
“Pato had long expressed a desire to return to Europe. “Liverpool await, there are a few missing details, but Klopp will have a new reinforcement and for Pato the Premier League will be a new springboard.”
Pato scored 63 times in 150 appearances in all competitions from Milan during a six-season stay at San Siro.
The Brazilian was part of the Milan side that won Serie A and Supercoppa Italiana in 2011.
The Liverpool target has netted 19 times in 59 games for Corinthians.
