Louis van Gaal has admitted that he earns a lot of money for not doing very much in charge of Manchester United.
The Dutchman is a quarter of the way into his second season in charge at Old Trafford since being appointed as David Moyes’ permanent successor in the summer of 2014.
However, the United boss feels that he is not having to do anywhere near as much work as he used to during the earlier stages of his career.
Van Gaal told the Daily Telegraph: “I’m from a time where [the coach] did everything.
“Now I’m the manager and I have a sports science department, I have a scouting department, I have a medical department, I have assistant managers, I have assistant coaches.
“I don’t do anything – nothing! I delegate. I delegate, and I earn a lot of money.”
Van Gaal’s United team return to Premier League action on Saturday with a trip to Watford.
The Red Devils beat West Bromwich Albion 2-0 in their most recent outing and are currently fourth in the table, two points behind leaders and bitter local rivals Manchester City.
The Dutchman led United to a top four finish and into this season’s Champions League in his first campaign in charge.
