Andrei Kanchelskis has launched a scathing attack on Manchester United’s style of play under manager Louis van Gaal.

The Red Devils were held to their third successive goalless draw by Crystal Palace in the Premier League at the weekend as they extended their run without scoring a goal to five hours.

Saturday’s stalemate left United in fourth place in the Premier League table and four points behind leaders Manchester City after 11 games.

And as they gear up for their second Champions League clash with CSKA Moscow on Tuesday night, former United winner Kanchelskis says that the Red Devils have been thoroughly unimpressive with their performances under the Dutchman.

Kanchelskis told Sport Express: “The first game against CSKA showed that it’s possible to win against this team.

“I was at the stadium and I was surprised how disgustingly United played in the first half. A lot of ball control but no sharpness at all.”

United host CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Tuesday night before turning their attentions back to the Premier League and a home clash against West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon as they look to return to winning ways in the top flight.
