Man United should have signed Douglas Costa, says German expert
Jan Aage Fjortoft questions why Man United didn't move to sign Douglas Costa in the summer
Jan Aage Fjortoft has questioned why Manchester United didn’t sign Bayern Munich forward Douglas Costa in the summer.
The Brazil international was previously linked with a move to the Red Devils before he joined reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.
Costa, who moved to Bayern in a reported €30m deal, has already scored four goals and has made nine assists in 17 appearances in the Bundesliga and the Champions League this season.
The Red Devils reportedly turned down the chance to sign the 25-year-old South American six years ago, whilst United were also reported to be monitoring their Brazilian in the most-recent transfer window.
Bundesliga expert Fjortoft appeared to question why the 20-time English champions didn’t move for the Shakhtar Donetsk forward, as opposed to speculation linking the Red Devils with a move for Arjen Robben.
Man UTD linked with Robben. Bayern buy Costa. A new Robben. Because of too much money or bad scouting?

Costa scored in Bayern’s 4-0 victory over Olympiacos in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
