Memphis Depay has responded to his critics after a difficult start to his Manchester United career.

The Red Devils winger has fallen out-of-favour at Old Trafford in recent weeks following the emergence of 22-year-old versatile midfielder Jesse Lingard.

Right now, I feel good again. Other people don’t see what I’m doing in training so people think I’m not busy with football but that’s not true

Depay has started just one of United’s last six games and he was unable to help the Red Devils avoid a penalty shootout League Cup defeat by Middlesbrough.

However, the Netherlands international, who moved to United from PSV Eindhoven in May, vowed to continue to work hard despite a testing few months at Old Trafford.

“I think I’m a team player and the other players in the team also think that. I don’t think I’m in a difficult path of my career as the media talk, but I just think my form isn’t very good right now,” Depay is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“I’m still working hard. Just because I don’t show the exact form that I showed at the World Cup or last year, it doesn’t mean I don’t work hard.

“Right now, I feel good again. Other people don’t see what I’m doing in training so people think I’m not busy with football but that’s not true.”

Depay has scored one goal in eight Premier League appearances for the Red Devils so far this season.

The Dutch youngster has had more luck in Europe after having netted three goals in six Champions League games.
