Man United transfers: David Beckham talks up Cristiano Ronaldo return
David Beckham runs rule over Cristiano Ronaldo's potential Man United return
David Beckham believes Cristiano Ronaldo will return to Manchester United if the forward decides to leave Real Madrid.
The Portugal international has been regularly linked with a move back to the 20-time English champions over the past 12 months.
I’d never advise any player not to return to United
However, Ronaldo has remained put in the Spanish capital, becoming Real Madrid’s all-time record goal-scorer after surpassing Raul.
The 30-year-old left Old Trafford to join Los Blancos in a world-record £80m fee in 2009, helping Madrid win their 10th Champions League crown in 2014.
Beckham, who preceded Ronaldo in United’s number seven shirt, said that he would advise the Portuguese star to return to Old Trafford.
“If he decides to leave Real then, for me personally, it’s back to United,” Beckham is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.
“I never had the opportunity to do that but I’m proud of the teams I played for after leaving United.
“Obviously given the chance once I’d left United, to have played for one of the biggest clubs in the world – Real Madrid – that was a dream.
“But I’d never advise any player not to return to United.”
Ronaldo scored 118 goals for United in all competitions for the Red Devils between 2003 and 2009.
He made more than 290 appearances for the Premier League club before his move to Spain.
The Madrid star won four Premier League titles, the Champions League and the League Cup during his United career.
