Man United transfers: Louis van Gaal confirms Cristiano Ronaldo plan

Louis van Gaal is hoping that Manchester United are able to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo in the coming months

Louis van Gaal has confirmed that he is keen on bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back to Manchester United.

The former Red Devils forward has long been linked with a return to the club he left to join Real Madrid in a world-record deal back in 2009.

Ronaldo has regularly refused to rule out the possibility of returning to the Premier League outfit when quizzed about his future in recent months.

Now, as the January transfer window looms large, Van Gaal has confirmed that the Red Devils are keen on bringing the 30-year-old Ballon d’Or winner back to the club.

Van Gaal is quoted as saying by BBC Sport: “Of course we would look. He plays on the wings and he is fast and scores goals.

“I don’t think there is a trainer in the world that doesn’t like him.

“We are looking at all players, not just Ronaldo. But these players are mostly ungettable. With Ronaldo, let’s wait and hope.”

Ronaldo, who scored 118 goals in 292 appearances for United, has won one La Liga title, a Champions League crown and two Spanish Cups in just over six years in the Spanish capital.

The Portugal captain moved to Manchester United for a reported £12.24m from Sporting Lisbon in 2003.
