Man United transfers: Louis van Gaal confirms plan for January signing
Louis van Gaal admits that Manchester United may have to sign a new left-back in the January transfer window
Louis van Gaal has suggested that he will look to sign a new left-back for Manchester United during the January transfer window.
The Red Devils look set to be without first-choice left-back Luke Shaw for the rest of the season after the England international suffered a broken leg at the start of the campaign.
United have been linked with swoops for a number of players in recent days as the January transfer window looms large.
And speaking after watching his United side move up to second place in the Premier League table with a 2-1 victory at Watford on Saturday, the Dutchman conceded that he may be forced to look for a new full-back during the mid-season transfer window.
Van Gaal told his post-match news conference at Vicarage Road: “Luke’s rehabilitation is going well but the process can be very slow. I don’t know if he will play again this season. The doctors won’t take any risks with him, which is good.
“I was convinced Luke would have a very good season and because of that I didn’t buy a second player for left-back. Maybe we have to buy a left-back in January.”
United return to action with a Champions League clash against PSV Eindhoven at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, before Saturday’s trip to Leicester City in the Premier League.
