Man United transfers: Louis van Gaal hints at January plan to spend
Louis van Gaal hints that he is planning on bolstering his options on the winger for Manchester United in January
Louis van Gaal has suggested that he will try to sign a new winger for Manchester United during the January transfer window.
The Red Devils have been linked with a host of players in recent weeks as the winter window draws ever closer.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been touted as a possible target for the Old Trafford outfit, while reports in recent days have claimed that United are interested in signing striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Paris Saint-Germain.
Now, Van Gaal has admitted that he feels his United squad is short of options on the wing and hinted that he is considering bolstering that position during the January transfer window.
“I have said already in my first year many times we need speed and creativity on the wings,” Van Gaal said, speaking at his news conference after United’s 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon.
“You have seen that now we play with Jesse Lingard and he is not the most speedy winger in the world and Mata is also not the most speedy winger in the world.
“So first we must first finish that problem and then we can see how we have to play and how we are in balance with playing with speedy wingers.”
United are currently fourth in the Premier League table heading into the international break and two points behind leaders Manchester City after 12 games.
