Man United’s Juan Mata: Chelsea star is not in his best moment

Juan Mata admits that Diego Costa is not in the best form but is backing the striker to start scoring again soon

Juan Mata has admitted that Diego Costa is not in his best form but is backing the Chelsea striker to start scoring regularly again in the coming weeks.

Costa – like most of his Chelsea team-mates – has struggled to find consistent form for the Blues this season and has only managed to net three times in 17 games so far this term.

The Spain international’s form in front of goal was one of the driving forces behind Chelsea’s run to the Premier League title last season.

However, despite his stuttering form in recent weeks, Mata has underlined his belief that Costa will rediscover his scoring touch sooner rather than later.

Mata told a news conference on Thursday: “Right now we’re in the same team, Spain, and we want him to score goals.

“He’s not in the best moment right now as he’s not scoring as many as last season but I’m sure he’ll soon start to score for Chelsea and for us as he’s not forgotten how to.
