Marcos Rojo vows to work hard to fill Man United void

Marcos Rojo says he is relishing the opportunity to fill in for Luke Shaw at left-back for Manchester United

Marcos Rojo insists that he is relishing the opportunity to fill in for Luke Shaw at left-back for Manchester United.

The Argentina international has been deployed in the full-back position in recent weeks following the horrific broken leg Shaw suffered during the 2-1 loss to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League back in September.

Shaw is expected to be out of action for most of this season and although Rojo admits that he is more comfortable featuring in his natural central position, the 25-year-old insists he is ready to perform for Louis van Gaal’s men at left-back.

Rojo told United Review: “I’m going to put in all the work necessary so I can be on form to help out the team in that position.

“What happened to Luke is a real shame and a player never likes to get into the starting team as a result of an injury to a team-mate, but that has been the case with me and now I have to get my head down and work hard in that role.”

The defender and his team-mates are gearing up for Saturday’s Premier League clash with West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford after their midweek win over CSKA Moscow.

Van Gaal’s men head into the game in fourth place in the Premier League table and four points behind leaders and local rivals Manchester City.
