Michael Owen states his prediction for Tottenham v Chelsea

Michael Owen is expecting Tottenham to emerge victorious from a closely-contested game against Chelsea

Michael Owen says Tottenham Hotspur are the favourites to claim victory when they host Chelsea at White Hart Lane in Sunday’s Premier League showdown.

Jose Mourinho’s men head to north London looking to build on their recent victories over Norwich City and Maccabi Tel-Aviv and turn around their poor start to the Premier League season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men face the Blues on the back of their impressive 4-1 win over West Ham United at the weekend, a victory which left them fifth in the table and just four points off top spot.

Former Liverpool striker Owen feels that Chelsea are yet to click into gear this season and reckons that Spurs are more likely to claim victory on Sunday based on their current form.

Owen wrote on Colossusbets.com: “There is little doubt that Chelsea continue to under-perform massively, notwithstanding their 1-0 defeat of Norwich last week.

“They just seem to lack a consistent goal threat at the moment, notwithstanding their Champions League win in midweek, and Tottenham have only conceded 11 goals in 13 games.

“Tottenham to win by the odd goal for me, 2-1 or 1-0, but you can’t rule out Chelsea getting something from the game – and those away Thursday night Europa League games always worry me for teams like Tottenham – so I’ll also throw in 1-1.”

Tottenham, who are unbeaten in the Premier League since their loss to Manchester United back in August, secured a 1-0 Europa League win over Qarabag in Azerbaijan on Thursday night thanks to Harry Kane’s second-half goal.
