Matteo Darmian reveals that taking English lessons has helped him settle into life at Manchester United

Matteo Darmian has revealed that taking English lessons has been helping him settle into life at Manchester United.

The Italy defender has been a regular fixture in the Red Devils’ first team since arriving at Old Trafford from Torino during the summer transfer window.

And Darmian admits that he is slowly getting to grips with the native language as he adapts to life in England following his move.

Darmian told United’s website: “My English is improving bit by bit. I am trying to learn it and my teacher will keep helping me to pick it up faster.”

He continued: “None of my team-mates speak the language [Italian] but Paolo Gaudino works in the fitness staff here and he helps me understand some things because he talks Italian.”

The 25-year-old has already featured in 11 Premier League games for United to help them up to fourth place in the table and to within two points of leaders Manchester City after 12 games.

The defender will be hoping to feature when Manchester United return to Premier League action with a trip to Watford after the international break on Saturday 21 November.

Darmian played the full 90 minutes as Belgium beat Italy 3-1 in their international friendly clash on Friday night.
