Nigel Winterburn: Why Arsene Wenger will be delighted with Arsenal’s league form
Former Arsenal defender Nigel Winterburn says the Gunners's league form has been decent
Nigel Winterburn says Arsene Wenger will be delighted with Arsenal’s Premier League form.
The Gunners are level on points with Premier League leaders Manchester City after six-game unbeaten run following Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby at The Emirates.
I think Wenger would be delighted with that [league form] considering the injuries that they’ve got
Wenger hasn’t led the north London side to Premier League title glory since his famous Invincibles side managed to win the 2003/04 title without suffering a defeat.
Former Arsenal defender Winterburn believes the Gunners’s Premier League form has been decent considering their current injury woes.
“The squad are very close knit and they’re working hard for each other,” Winterburn told Arsenal’s podcast.
“Their league form has been decent. The Champions League has been disappointing but they’ve got a decent chance of progressing. The form has been a little bit mixed.
“Arsenal’s league form has been decent since the loss to West Ham. I think Wenger would be delighted with that considering the injuries that they’ve got.”
Mauricio Pochettino’s side made the stronger start at The Emirates as England international Harry Kane gave the visitors a 32nd-minute lead.
However, Arsenal substitute Kieran Gibbs levelled the north London derby with 13 minutes remaining thanks to a close-range finish.
The Gunners have 25 points from a possible 36 after 12 Premier League games.
