Paul Merson states his prediction for Norwich v Arsenal
Paul Merson is tipping Arsenal to return to winning ways with a comfortable win at Norwich City on Sunday
Paul Merson is tipping Arsenal to return to winning ways in the Premier League with a 3-0 win over Norwich City on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners slumped to a 2-1 loss to West Bromwich Albion in their most recent top-flight outing last weekend to leave them fourth in the table and two points behind leaders Leicester City.
Arsenal did return to winning ways in the Champions League on Tuesday night as they secured a comfortable 3-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb at Emirates Stadium thanks two goals from Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
And former Arsenal star Merson feels that the north London side will have too much for the Canaries at Carrow Road, despite them being without midfield general Francis Coquelin, who is out of action for 12 weeks with a knee injury.
Merson told Sky Sports: “Arsenal have to win this. I said that last week and they lost, but this is a similar game. They will miss Francis Coquelin. For all the talent they have in the team they couldn’t afford to lose him.
“It’s every year with Arsenal with the injuries. It’s not just once, this is all the time. I know Arsene Wenger doesn’t run them into the ground in training sessions. Wenger is very good with sport science, he isn’t one of those managers who will tire them.
“Are they unlucky? Are the grounds too hard? Coquelin’s was unlucky, but look at Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s muscle injuries, I don’t think they were unlucky. That’s just not good preparation. That’s not unlucky, you shouldn’t be pulling muscles.
“But if Arsenal get going I think they’ll have too much for Norwich.”
Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since 2004 but have been tipped by many to challenge for the top-flight crown this season.
